Alan plans for retirement

20th August, 2010

Long serving cellarman Alan Mearns has announced plans to retire at the end of August 2010

Bartsch Inns longest serving member of staff Alan Mearns has announced his retirement after over 12 years of loyal service. Alans wide experience of the beer market has been gained through a lifetime of enjoying beer and working in the cellars of some of Nottinghams finest real ale establishments. His legendary knowledge of beer will be missed but his legacy will live on in his proteges Kalum at the Horse Chestnut and Mark at the Horse and Plough who have been trained to Alans highest standards.

Alan will have time to enjoy his passion for golf and make use of his membership at Cotgrave Place and will also enjoy his travels to America to visit family and to his favourite Greek Islands.

Alan will be enjoying a holiday in early September and a leaving party is planned for when he returns. Everyone will be welcome so watch out for details in the Horse and Plough and on the website.

Because of his links with pubs in Nottingham his many friends in the city will have chance to see him off at a leaving party at the Horse & Groom, details to be confirmed.

We are sure you will all join us in wishing Alan a long and happy retirement and look forward to welcoming him as a customer in the Horse & Plough.
