Cask Ale is What We Do Best!
Cask condition beers are what we do best! Six are always available to choose from at The Horse & Plough, two are permanent with London Pride being a third almost permanent beer as it on most of the time and the remaining three change regularly, we serve more than 300 different cask conditioned beers every year.
“A burnished copper colour, it has a rich, tempting aroma of peppery hops and raisins, while the palate is dominated by more dark fruit, juicy malt and tangy hops.” Roger Protz, Editor, ‘The Good Beer Guide’ on Bombardier
Our Three Permanent Cask Beers are:
Fuller’s London Pride
4.1% ABV, Chiswick, West London
A rich, smooth and wonderfully balanced beer, its distinctive malty base is complemented by well developed hop character, from adding Target, Challenger and Northdown hop varieties to the brew.
Charles Well’s Bombardier
4.3% ABV, Bedford
An award winning premium cask ale with only the finest ingredients – hand sampled English Challenger and Fuggles hops and crushed Crystal malt, Wells Bombardier is uniquely brewed using natural mineral water from the brewery’s own, accredited well.
Caledonian Deuchars I.P.A.
3.8% ABV, Edinburgh, Scotland
An award winning ale voted World Champion in 2005. It is smooth on the tongue. It’s hoppy and bitter, like an IPA should be, but it’s balanced with biscuity malt. There’s a tart, citrus note to the flavour with a definite peppery quality. It has a long, dry and delicate hop finish with just a hint of peatiness, a real classic Indian Pale Ale.
“Deuchars IPA is a fabulous beer. A brilliant blend of malt and hop character and above all a drink with enormous drinkability.” Roger Protz, Editor of the Good Beer Guide.
